Introduction by lisa luxx – lisaluxx.com
During the pandemic, we kept in touch online – there was a series of workshops supposed to happen but our lives were hard and constant disruptions were making it difficult to organize, let alone carry out. We kept returning to phrase that Kate shared: politics of ease; “let’s work within a politics of ease.” I was taken by this, and started to implement it in my other communities. Eventually when I got round to our group writing workshop, it felt right to centre this politics of ease, and to concentrate not on what we had overcome in the pandemic years, but the quiet ways in which we had overcome. The moments of ease we found in the difficult. I was inspired by a book I found in Beirut called the Dictionary of Night, and so I facilitated us to write our Dictionary of Ease, and here it is.
